Port Barcarès is a magnificent seaside city that is divided into four neighborhoods.
"Le Village" is a fisherman's village with its quaint little streets, palm trees, and square where petanque is played regularly. "Le Port" is the neighborhood where you will find fishing boats and modern sailboats alike. Every year on the 15th of August, water jousting competitions are held there. The "Lac Marin" (saltwater lake) which is 7,000 hectares in size, is set aside for water sports and other sports activities. The "Grand Plage" (meaning large beach) is an ideal neighborhood for relaxing and enjoying the pleasures of the beach near the steamship "The Lydia".
ACTIVITIES
8km of clean, safe beaches with a lifeguard on duty. For enthusiasts of dynamic vacations, there is a wide range of choices for you: sailing (small sailboats, catamarans), scuba diving, water skiing, tennis, mountain biking, hiking, and trail riding on horseback.
Activities for kids: Beach club, nurseries, day care center, sports activities in July/August.
